Agriculture and Science Courses
When you’re applying to colleges, you’re going to need science units. Did you know some career-focused classes count toward those units?
The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) gives certain courses in agriculture and science (Ag/Sci) the thumbs up as “high school science equivalent.” Check the table below.
When you’re preparing your college applications, check to make sure your transcripts indicate which Ag/Sci courses meet this requirement.

UW-Eau Claire | Completion of one or more Ag/Sci courses will count for no more than 1 science unit. |
UW-Green Bay | Completion of one or more approved Ag/Sci courses will count only as the 3rd unit of science as long as the student has taken some combination of biology/chemistry/physics for the other two units. |
UW-La Crosse | Completion of one or more approved Ag/Sci courses will count only as the 3rd unit of science as long as the student has taken some combination of biology/chemistry/physics for the other two units. |
