NON-RESIDENT TUITION PROGRAMS
Paying for college can be challenging. But there’s some good news for nonresidents of Wisconsin. You may be eligible for one of three tuition-reduction programs at select UW universities.
Minnesota Reciprocity
Minnesota residents may attend UW institutions and pay reciprocity tuition. Minnesota students can learn more about this program from Minnesota Office of Higher Education.
Return to Wisconsin
This program is designed for nonresidents of Wisconsin or Minnesota. Students who meet eligibility requirements will receive a 25% waiver of their nonresident tuition.
To be eligible, a parent, grandparent, or legal guardian must have graduated from the institution where the student will enroll. Get more details by clicking on the participating campuses:
Midwest Student Exchange Program
Welcome to the largest multistate tuition reciprocity program in the Midwest. This program gives students from participating states the opportunity to attend public colleges or universities in other participating states.

Tuition Advantage (formerly known as the Tri-State Initiative)
UW-Platteville’s Tuition Advantage provides a discount on out-of-state tuition for eligible new freshmen and transfer students from Illinois and Iowa, offered only at the Platteville campus. Students may receive the Tuition Advantage rate for up to five years if enrolled as a full-time, degree-seeking undergraduate student and in good standing with the university. This program is not available to students enrolling at our Baraboo Sauk County campus, or for fully online programs.

Titan National Scholars Program
UW Oshkosh’s Titan National Scholars (TNS) is a scholarship program that benefits students over the course of four years. It rewards high-achieving, first-year or transfer students from across the country. This scholarship brings the cost of tuition for non-resident students down to that of Wisconsin’s low-cost in-state tuition.
