Counseling Services
All Universities of Wisconsin universities offer free, confidential counseling services, paid for by tuition and fees. Typical services include individual, group, and couples counseling, as well as a variety of workshops and self-help materials to help with common issues like stress, depression, anxiety, and relationship concerns. Centers are staffed by licensed mental health providers, with some centers also including graduate student counseling trainees.
Student health services
All Universities of Wisconsin universities provide access to some level of primary care outpatient services, staffed by family physicians, internists, nurse practitioners, nurses, and in some cases psychiatrists or psychiatric nurse practitioners. Health services are sometimes outsourced to community providers, and a combination of student fees and health insurance may be utilized to cover costs. Because services vary at each campus, new students are encouraged to explore health services offerings online at their campus(es) of interest, and to contact specific health services offices with any specific questions.
Childcare options
You’re paving the way to a better future for yourself and your family. We want to help. On-campus childcare is available at some campuses for students, faculty, and staff. Better yet, financial assistance may also be available.
Veteran services
Our mission is to support the Wisconsin Experience of military-connected students by fostering personal transitions and pursuit of academic success.
Students with Disabilities
The Universities of Wisconsin provides full and equal educational opportunities to all students. And that means you’re entitled to an accessible, accommodating, and supportive teaching and learning environment.
Two campuses offering specialized programs for students with learning disabilities:
Project Success at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh is a successful academic and social remediation program for students with learning disabilities. The goal is for you to become educationally independent in mathematics, spelling, reading, writing, comprehension, and study skills.
Please note that UW Oshkosh recommends that you apply at least two to three years prior to your desired entrance.
Project Assist is a comprehensive program at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater that supports students in their pursuit of a degree without compromising academic standards. It’s based on the philosophy that you can learn specific strategies that’ll enable you to be a successful, independent learner through one-on-one contact with tutors.
Campus safety
The safety of Universities of Wisconsin students and employees are among the university’s highest concerns. Every UW offers information about how it keeps campus communities safe. Learn about, read, and print your UW’s Annual Security Reports. Each report includes information about crime, fire and safety statistics at your UW university.
