Student Services on Campus
You’re busy. We get that. And we’re sure you can use a hand balancing everything so you can focus on your education. That’s when Student Services can help.
The UW System student services staff can help you move through each stage of your journey with less hassle. The full range of services available includes childcare, programs for students with disabilities, and more.
Campus Counseling Services
All UW campuses offer free, confidential counseling services, paid for by tuition and fees. Typical services include individual, group, and couples counseling, as well as a variety of workshops and self-help materials to help with common issues like stress, depression, anxiety, and relationship concerns. Centers are staffed by licensed mental health providers, with some centers also including graduate student counseling trainees. Counseling is a highly utilized service, so new students interested in accessing counseling services are encouraged to make an early connection to learn about any limits to the scope of service and to discuss community referrals, if warranted.

Student Health Services
All UW campuses provide access to some level of primary care outpatient services, staffed by family physicians, internists, nurse practitioners, nurses, and in some cases psychiatrists or psychiatric nurse practitioners. Health services are sometimes outsourced to community providers, and a combination of student fees and health insurance may be utilized to cover costs. Because services vary at each campus, new students are encouraged to explore health services offerings online at their campus(es) of interest, and to contact specific health services offices with any specific questions.

The University of Wisconsin System provides full and equal educational opportunities to all students. And that means you’re entitled to an accessible, accommodating, and supportive teaching and learning environment.
Since 1988, all of the UW System campuses have provided a variety of services for students with special needs, including audio textbooks, alternative testing, classroom note-takers, priority registration, accessible parking, readers, equipment loan, and advising. If you are looking for additional information or resources on this topic, please visit the Americans with Disabilities Act website.
Two campuses offering specialized programs for students with learning disabilities:
Project Success at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh is a successful academic and social remediation program for students with learning disabilities. The goal is for you to become educationally independent in mathematics, spelling, reading, writing, comprehension, and study skills.
Please note that UW-Oshkosh recommends that you apply at least two to three years prior to your desired entrance. |
Project ASSIST is a comprehensive program at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater that supports students in their pursuit of a degree without compromising academic standards. It’s based on the philosophy that you can learn specific strategies that’ll enable you to be a successful, independent learner through one-on-one contact with tutors. |
Campuses recommend you get in contact with their Disability Services office during the admissions and enrollment processes to learn what they have to offer and to get services set up.
