Transfer Admission Requirements

Life happens and things change. We get that. Maybe you want to explore a new major not offered at your current campus. Or maybe you want to experience a bigger (or smaller) campus. Whatever the reason, a smooth transition is the goal. This section covers the admission requirements for transfer students. If you’ve enrolled at a college/university and now wish to attend a UW System campus, you’re in the right spot.

Transfer Admission Guidelines

All applications will go through a comprehensive review to determine admissibility.

Typically, a minimum GPA of 2.0 will be expected for admission consideration.

Minimum GPA Requirements for Admission Consideration to Specific Majors

The following list shows majors and corresponding minimum GPA requirements that exceed the minimum for admission to the campus.

Credit and Other Requirements for Admission Consideration

Applicants must have 12 or more post-secondary transferable earned credits at an accredited institution to be considered according to transfer policies. Applicants with fewer than 12 credits may be evaluated as new freshmen.

Anticipated Application Deadlines/Priority Dates

Accepting applications on a rolling admission basis. Transfer students should apply prior to August 25th to ensure all transcripts will arrive in time to begin the semester.

Registration Dates

All on-campus transfer students who have paid their $100 enrollment deposit and have scheduled (and completed) an appointment with their advisor, register at the same time as continuing students.

All online transfer students who have scheduled (and completed) an appointment with their advisor, register at the same time as continuing students. Online transfers do not require an enrollment deposit.

Registration date determined based on the number of earned credits.
