Transfer Admission Guidelines
All applications receive a comprehensive review. Academic preparation is the primary criteria used in the admissions review process. Transfer students will be considered for admission if they have a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 2.00 or higher in transferable college coursework and are in good standing at the institution they are currently attending or have attended.
Minimum GPA Requirements for Admission Consideration to Specific Majors
Although students may be admitted to the university with a 2.0 cumulative GPA, higher grade point averages may be necessary for students who wish to enter the School of Education
All transfer students should consult with the department or program chair to clarify specific major/program requirements in the transfer.
All education majors need a 2.65 GPA average on a 30 credit minimum (transfer students must earn a minimum of 15 credits at UW-Platteville) to be admitted to the university teacher education program. In order for students to be endorsed for certification in education, they must have earned a cumulative grade point average of 2.75 GPA or higher in the major(s), teaching minor(s), and professional education courses. If a student has a 2.750 GPA or higher the basic skills testing is not required. (Note: 3.00 required in professional education, major, and minor for early childhood-middle childhood, B-11 students & a 3.00 GPA is required for the professional education, and major for the middle childhood-early adolescence, 6-12/13 students). Please note GPA is calculated on UW–P credits only. Credits earned during student teaching/interning cannot be used in calculating an overall GPA for endorsement purposes.
Credit and Other Requirements for Admission Consideration
Applicants must have 12 or more transferable credits from an accredited institution to be considered for admission as a transfer student. Applicants with fewer than 12 credits must meet new freshmen admission requirements.

Special Note for UW System Transfer Applicants (option)
The UW System undergraduate transfer policy states that priority for admission will be given to two-year branch campuses transfers and other UW System transfers from campuses where a major is not available, subject to the limits of a campus’s enrollment target. All UW System campuses have Guaranteed Transfer agreements with the two-year branch campuses. Students admitted under these agreements should follow the requirements of the agreement. The stipulations of these agreements are not included in this listing.
