Transfer Admission Guidelines
All applicants receive a comprehensive review. A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 in transferrable coursework is generally required to be considered for admission to the university. Students should also be in good academic standing from the current (or previous) institution attended.
Minimum GPA Requirements for Admission Consideration to Specific Majors
The GPA’S listed below are required for admission to the major, NOT for admission to the university.

Flexible Option:
The UW Flexible Option Bachelor of Science in Business Administration is an online, self-paced, competency-based program. Competencies are awarded credit equivalents to support transfer to other institutions and to meet accreditation requirements. Terms (called subscription periods) are three months in length and students may begin their studies in any given month. Applications may be submitted as early as five months in advance and applicant files must be completed (all supporting materials received) no later than one month prior to start.
Applicants must be in good academic standing when last enrolled (2.0-2.5 minimum depending on the program). However, performance trends, professional experience, employment and associated responsibilities or achievements, the time elapsed since last enrolled and student goals are also considered.
Applicants who have not completed college-level English or mathematics may be subject to placement testing (depending on program) prior to receiving an admission decision.
Applications open five months prior to the start of the desired subscription period and close one month prior. See appendix V for information on how UW Flexible Option terms are structured and deadlines apply.
All admitted transfer students must meet with their Academic Success Coach and confirm an approved Academic Plan of Study (APS) prior to registering. Registration opens one month prior to the start of the student’s subscription period.
The BSBA program consists of three categories of competencies or combinations of competencies and courses: the degree requirements (65 equivalent credits), general education requirements (30 equivalent credits), and electives (25 equivalent credits), for a total of 120 credit equivalencies.
- All BSBA General Education requirements and all BSBA electives will be met by any of the following: • Earned bachelor’s degree or master’s degree from a regionally-accredited institution? Successful completion of the UW Colleges Associate of Arts and Sciences Degree (AAS)?• Successful completion of a liberal arts associate degree from a regionally-accredited institution
- Successful completion of general education requirements through prior post-secondary study. Transcripts for students with some college-level academic work but no qualifying degree as defined above will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis to determine if prior academic work satisfies general education or BSBA elective requirements. Any remaining general education or BSBA elective requirements may be satisfied through academic work offered by UW Colleges UW Flexible Option selections, additional transfer work having appropriate UW-Extension competency equivalency, or through credit-by-examination with College Level Examination Program (CLEP).
- Recognition of Prior Learning through Credit by Examination: The UW-Extension Flexible Option BSBA program honors some prior learning credentials earned through credit by examination. This prior knowledge may have been gained through non-credit adult courses, job training, independent reading and study, and advanced high school courses. For such students, UW-Extension allows the transfer of academic work that is verified through examinations offered by Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), College Level Examination Program (CLEP), and Dantes/DSST, Military Study, and ACE Credit Recommendations. Students who successfully complete these exams may transfer credit equivalents to UW-Extension. Depending on the Exam taken and subject area of that exam, the credit equivalents may count toward BSBA Projects, general education, or elective credit requirements. Credit and Other Requirements for Admission Consideration
Students with fewer than 12 attempted credits at an accredited institution may be required to meet the freshman admission requirements.
