Transfer Admission Requirements Spring 2021
Applies to: UW-Milwaukee, UW-Milwaukee at Washington County, UW-Milwaukee at Waukesha
Transfer Admission Guidelines
All applications receive a comprehensive review. Admission decisions are based on GPA, the number of credits earned, rigor and breadth of curriculum, and other predictors of success. Transfer students are likely to be admitted if they have a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 2.00 or higher in college transfer courses and are in good standing at the institution they are currently attending or have attended.
Minimum GPA Requirements for Admission Consideration to Specific Majors
ART & DESIGN
No further steps are required to be eligible for acceptance into UWM’s Department of Art & Design. However, incoming transfer students interested in applying for an Art scholarship must submit a portfolio by December 15 for consideration. More information on scholarship requirements here: http://uwm.edu/arts/apply/
To be eligible for acceptance into any Dance program, incoming new transfers must first complete a successful audition. Transfer students must complete a minimum of half of the required dance credits while in residence at UWM in order to graduate. A transcript evaluation by a dance advisor is required before placement into dance major courses. Students interested in department-level scholarships must audition by March 1 for priority consideration. More information here: http://uwm.edu/arts/apply/
No further steps are required to be eligible for acceptance into UWM’s Department of Film, Video, Animation & New Genres. However, transfer students interested in applying for a Film scholarship should complete the requirements by December 15. More scholarship information here: http://uwm.edu/arts/apply/

Transfer students should apply by December 1st for spring admission. Applicants who have earned at least 12 credits with a minimum 2.50 GPA will be considered for admission. Currently, a 3.1 is the average GPA of students accepted into Level 2 of the architecture program. The program is very competitive and selective.
We encourage you to reach out to Tammy Taylor, Undergraduate Administrator for SARUP early in the transfer process. She can be reached via email: email@example.com or by phone: (414) 229-4015.
- Admission into a major in the Lubar School of Business* is based on the following requirements:
- Completion of at least 56 credits (junior standing);
- Successful completion of the Mathematics and English Composition requirements;
- Completion of the Business Foundation Course Group [which consists of Comm 103 or 105, Econ 103, Econ 104, Bus Adm 201, Bus Adm 230, and Math 211 or 231 (or the equivalent courses)] with a six-course cumulative GPA of 2.25 or above;
- Obtaining a cumulative grade point average, including transfer work, of 2.50 or above.
*Students CAN be admitted to UWM as Business-Intended, PRIOR to meeting these requirements.
The following criteria are typically needed for applicants to transfer to the undergraduate pre-engineering major:
- Completion of a minimum of 12 credits;
- Cumulative GPA of at least a 2.75 on all completed coursework;
- Eligible to enroll in Math 232 or higher-level math course (Completion of the equivalent of Math 231 with minimum C grade).
All transfer applicants who do not meet the above criteria will be holistically reviewed by the College of Engineering & Applied Science.
The following criteria must be met for applicants to transfer to the undergraduate pre-nursing curriculum:
- Completion of a minimum of 15 credits;
- Cumulative GPA of 2.50 on all completed coursework;

Application to the clinical nursing major is a selective process. There is increasing competition for available spots in clinical. It is probable that not all eligible students will be accommodated. Students are required to have a minimum GPA of 2.50 as calculated by the College of Nursing on pertinent physical/biological science courses and a minimum grade of “C” in each required course. Students must have a GPA of 2.75 or higher on the 45 required credits. Applications are due by January 15 for the fall clinical and August 15 for the spring clinical.
It is important to meet with an advisor in the College of Nursing as soon as possible for students considering transferring to the program.
Credit and Other Requirements for Admission Consideration
Programs other than those in Appendix II require 12 or more attempted transferable credits at an accredited institution (applicants with fewer than 12 credits will be evaluated on the same basis as new freshmen).
Anticipated Application Deadlines/Priority Dates
Accepting applications: April 1, 2020
Priority Consideration Deadline: October 1, 2020
Will admit until enrollment capacity is reached.
All admitted transfer students are required to pay the new transfer fee to become eligible to enroll.
Admitted transfer students who are eligible to enroll prior to or during the priority enrollment period are assigned the best possible enrollment appointment alongside continuing students based on earned credits. Transfer students who are admitted after priority enrollment may enroll as soon as they are eligible.
Special Note for UW System Transfer Applicants (option)
The UW System undergraduate transfer policy states that priority for admission will be given to two-year branch campuses transfers and other UW System transfers from campuses where a major is not available, subject to the limits of a campus’s enrollment target. All UW System campuses have Guaranteed Transfer agreements with the two-year branch campuses. Students admitted under these agreements should follow the requirements of the agreement. The stipulations of these agreements are not included in this listing.
