Many high school seniors don’t know where to start when it comes to financial aid. Our office will be leading the way for many of them.
Each senior who is graduating from a Wisconsin high school next summer and applies to a UW System campus will be receiving text messages from our office. The messages will pass along timely information such as recommended FAFSA filing dates for our UW System campuses, scholarship deadlines for the UW’s, College Goal Wisconsin dates, and lots of other tips and resources about financial-aid-related topics.
The goals of the campaign are to:
- Encourage more students to submit the FAFSA
- Offer timely information about financial aid and scholarships
- Nudge prospective UW students to complete financial aid tasks
There are a few caveats that define who receives the text messages: the students must apply for admission between September 1 and early February, they have to indicate that they’re willing to receive texts, and they must be US citizens or permanent residents.
Students who apply for admission by October 31 will receive a more comprehensive set of messages than those who apply later. However, ALL students will have a greater understanding of financial aid as a result of the campaign. They’ll also get an anonymous place to ask questions, which can’t hurt!
