Students leave school for many reasons. Sometimes it’s to pursue a passion or to gain unique work experience. Other times, things just don’t work out as planned. If this describes you and you’re ready to jump back in, we’re ready to help.
This section covers the admission requirements for re-entry students. The biggest thing is whether you left the UW System in good standing (your grades were in good shape) or poor standing (grades weren’t up to par).
Likely to be readmitted without a hassle. Be sure to meet the application priority dates.
Start by talking with the admissions office to identify the specific procedure you’ll need to follow. It may involve an appeal to admissions director, academic dean, or a designee.
Applying for Re-Entry Admission
It’s great that you’re ready to return to the UW System. The following will help you successfully apply for re-entry admissions.
Step 1: The Application
The best and most convenient way to apply is through the online application. You can quickly apply to multiple UW campuses with one application.
Like to take your time? Download a paper version of the application at apply.wisconsin.edu.
Step 2: Transcripts
Don’t worry, it’s easy. Have you attended a college/university since leaving the UW System?
- If no, you don’t need to send transcripts.
- If yes, official transcripts are required. Contact your previous college/university and have them send your official transcripts to the admissions office of UW System school you’re applying to.
That’s it! There are no application fees or test scores to submit for re-entry students. Application priority dates and deadlines vary from campus to campus. Contact the one you’re interested in for current dates.
