How to Apply

To apply for admission to a University of Wisconsin System campus as a transfer student, an applicant should submit the standard University of Wisconsin System Application for Undergraduate Admission. Transfer students applying for admission should meet application priority or deadline dates in order to assure full consideration.

The application can be obtained from Wisconsin high school guidance offices, University of Wisconsin System admission offices or by choosing "Request Materials." Students may also apply online at apply.wisconsin.edu.

The nonrefundable application fee of $35 is required if you are applying as a degree-seeking student to a UW System institution. The fee is not required if your last institution attended was a UW Colleges (freshman/sophomore) campus. The fee is good for one year (two semesters and a summer session).

Transcripts

An official transcript of the complete high school record (beginning with grade 9) and transcripts from all postsecondary institutions attended are required from transfer applicants. Applicants should contact their high school of graduation and each previously attended institution to request official transcripts be sent to the UW System institution(s) to which they are applying.

Procedures and policies for requesting an official transcript from a college or university vary by campus. Students must request a transcript, in person or in writing, from the registrar's office. A transcript submitted in the admission process must be "official." An official transcript will usually be sent directly from the sending institution to the receiving institution without going through the student and will include the official school seal. Information for requesting a transcript from a UW System institution provides contact information and instructions.

Test Scores

Neither the ACT nor the SAT is generally required of transfer students. The applicant will be notified if any standardized test scores are required in order to complete the application. Choose ACT/SAT FAQs for more specific information for each University of Wisconsin System institution.
