Housing and Meal Plan Options 2008-2009

  • Freshmen and sophomores living on campus are required to participate in a campus meal plan.
  • Costs for room and food service are subject to change. For up-to-date information, contact the housing office at each specific campus.

UW-Eau Claire

UW-Eau Claire offers double and single residence hall rooms. Costs listed below are per student for the academic year.

Availability of single rooms is very limited. Residence hall rooms include a telephone and cable TV hookup. Large and small refrigerators may be rented from a local business.

Food Service Rates

The University currently offers seven Meal Plans. Your Meal Plan selection will depend on your dining frequency and your personal dining preferences.

If you are on campus during the weekend or like to eat three meals a day a larger Meal Plan may be best for you. If you choose a smaller Meal Plan, you may run out the fixed meals or Meal Plan dollars. You can NOT ADD fixed meals to a plan, but you may add additional Meal Plan dollars to ANY Meal Plan.

Fixed Meal Plans offer the best value in Riverview Cafe and The Terrace. A Meal plan dollar account provides the most flexible option when dining in the food courts and the a la cart dining areas.

UW-Green Bay

UW-Green Bay offers a variety of on-campus housing opportunities. Costs listed below are per student for the academic year.

Each residence hall room has a private bath with a shower, and a vanity area with sink and medicine cabinet. The rooms are carpeted and drapes are furnished. All include computer network access, TV cable hookup, and telephone hookup, but students must bring their own phone.

The on-campus apartments have compact kitchens with stoves, sinks, disposals, refrigerators, cupboards, table and chairs. The living area contains a sofa, lounge chairs, and end tables. Each bedroom has single beds, desks and chairs, and nightstands. There is a double closet. Bathrooms have showers and double sinks. Drapes and carpeting are provided. Telephone hookup, computer network access, and TV cable hookup are provided, but students should bring their own telephones and televisions.

Food Service Rates

UW-Green Bay offers a point plan for its food service; students select and pay for only what they eat. Students begin an account by depositing funds, and each time students purchase a food item, the amount is automatically deducted from the balance in the account. The minimum meal plan costs $1,400 per academic year , and all students living in a residence hall will be placed on this plan automatically.

Students living in campus apartments may choose a different meal plan. Any amount in this plan can be used in the dining service areas and/or The Corner Store. This plan is not available to residence hall students.

Students may add any amount to their plan at any time during the academic year. All additional amounts can be used in the dining services areas and/or The Corner Store.

UW-La Crosse

UW-La Crosse offers double and triple residence hall rooms. Costs are per student for the academic year.

Availability of single rooms is very limited. Residence hall rooms include cable TV hookup and refrigerator. All rooms are wired for computer network access. Students bring their own telephones. Wireless internet access is available in the basement of each residence hall.

There are four meal plans offered for students who live on campus.

19 meals/week = $1,100
14 meals/week = $1,075
10 meals/week = $1,060
7 meals/week = $1,040

Students who live off campus can purchase an additional meal plan.

UW-Madison

UW-Madison offers a variety of on-campus housing options. Costs are per student for the academic year.

Food Service Rates

Food service is popular and convenient. Students can choose from a variety of dining rooms, carryout stores, delis, and coffee houses in the University Residence Halls. Students pay only for the food they select (a meal plan is not required) using funds they have deposited into their Housing Food debit account. Each time they purchase a food item, the purchase price is automatically deducted from the balance in the account.

The average residence hall student spends approximately $1,000 per academic year on food purchased in the University Residence Halls’ dining facilities.

UW-Marathon County

UW-Marathon County is one of the two-year campuses in which on-campus housing is available. Single rooms are usually not available. Students from Northcentral Technical College also reside on campus. Housing and Food Service rates are combined on this campus. Costs listed below are per student for the academic year.

UW-Milwaukee

UW-Milwaukee offers four forms of on-campus housing. The following costs are per student for the academic year.

There is one phone in each lobby (1 phone per 2 floors). Students may bring cellular phones, otherwise may contact local phone company for a landline in suite. Students may rent refrigerators and lofts locally.

Food Service Rates

The meal plan on campus is a points-based plan. Students deposit funds in their Resident Account, and when they purchase food items, the price is automatically deducted from the balance of their account. Students pay an enrollment fee to cover basic costs, and then every dollar above that amount is added to the resident's card to be spent at dining service units across campus.

The minimum level of participation is $1,860 for the academic year. Students may sign up for different levels of participation based on their eating habits. Plans range from $1,860-$3,400 per year.

UW-Oshkosh offers double and single residence hall rooms for undergraduates. All rooms include a cable TV hookup, computer network access, and refrigerator. Students must bring their own telephone. Stewart Hall offers single rooms for upperclassmen, nontraditional and graduate students. These rooms include microwaves and larger closets. Following are costs per student for the academic year.

UW-Parkside

UW-Parkside offers both apartment-style housing, including a kitchen, bathroom, refrigerator, telephone and cable TV, and residence hall accommodations. Each Ranger Hall room is larger than average, with air conditioning, carpeting, large closets and direct computer network connections and wireless internet access. Following are rates per student for the academic year, including utilities.

UW-Richland

UW-Richland is one of the two-year campuses which has private housing available adjacent to campus. The accommodations are apartment-style or suite and completely furnished. Costs listed below are per student for the academic year.

All rooms include local telephone service, air conditioning, cable service, Internet service, and utilities.

Food Service

Food service at this campus is centered around meal tickets. Students purchase meal tickets, and each ticket has five $4.00 value punch holes for the academic year. Tickets can be used for daily breakfast or lunch specials, or students can order a la carte. If a purchase is less then $4.00, students receive a credit ticket for the difference.

The cafeteria is open 7:15 am-7:00pm Mon - Thurs, and 7:15 am - 2:00pm Fri. The cafeteria is closed during weekends.

Food Service Rates

The cost of the campus dining service, the Baseline Dining Plan, is broken into two parts. The first part is the fixed portion, which covers non-food operating costs. The second part is the dining funds. Students deposit funds into their account, and as they purchase food from dining services across campus, the price is automatically deducted from the balance of their account. There are four buy-in levels from which to choose, with the following costs accurate for the academic year:
