Services for Veterans

A veteran is a former member of the United States Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, or Coast Guard who served on active duty and was discharged other than dishonorably.

The University of Wisconsin System campuses are approved for the education of reservists, veterans, disabled or deceased veterans' dependents, and war orphans under programs provided by the U.S. Veterans Administration and the State Department of Veterans Affairs.

If students receive support from veteran programs, certify directly to the VA monthly by phone or internet. The university must certify each student's attendance and credit load to the Veterans Administration. Payments of veterans' benefits depend on the number of credits carried.

WI G.I. Bill

The WI G.I. Bill provides tuition waivers for certain eligible veterans, spouses, or dependents to attend University of Wisconsin System institutions or Wisconsins Technical Colleges.  It became effective for the 2005-06 academic year. Details on eligibility and application procedures are listed in the WI G.I.
