The University of Wisconsin System Board of Regents requires freshmen and sophomores at most campuses who are not living at the home of a parent or legal guardian within approximately 40 miles of campus to live in university-operated residence halls. Contact the campus to find out their specific policy on the number of miles from campus.
Exceptions may be made for students who are 21 years or older and students who have been out of high school for at least 2 years.
This decision applies to the following campuses:
- UW-Eau Claire
- UW-La Crosse
- UW-Milwaukee (freshmen only)
- UW-River Falls
- UW-Stevens Point
Specific questions should be directed to the campus' residence life office.
