We encourage students to begin preparing and planning for college early! Web sites listed below will help inform students, parents and counselors of opportunities, services and information related to early awareness for college. These sites are not part of UW Help On-Line, and UW HELP On-Line has no control over their content or availability.

ACT - The ACT Assessment, or "A-C-T" as it is commonly called, is a national college admission exam.

Advanced Placement Program (AP) - The College Board Advanced Placement Program (AP) provides an opportunity for high school students to earn college credit in high school.

Adventures in Education - This site is sponsored by the Texas Guaranteed Student Loan Corporation (TGSLC). Here you will find information on careers, colleges, and financial aid to help plan for the future.

College Board - Students and parents will find a broad menu of information to aid in the transition from school to college. Educators will find a wide array of up-to-date information about College Board tests, programs, and services.

College is Possible - The Coalition of America's Colleges and Universities resource guide for students, parents and education professionals.

Homework Central - This site may help with homework questions students have.

High School Ace - A noncommercial gateway to academic resources for high school students.

International Baccalaureate Organisation (IB) - IB authorizes qualified secondary schools to offer the IB curriculum and administer examinations. A student must be enrolled in an authorized school to be eligible to sit for IB examinations.

It's My Future - An interactive site with advice about making career and lifestyle choices.

Lyfe On-Line is designed to help students not only understand how important a college education is to their future success, but also how it can be a reality for them. This motivational and inspirational Web site was created by the University of Wisconsin System Multicultural Center for Educational Excellence (MCEE).

Multicultural Center for Educational Excellence (MCEE) - The University of Wisconsin System MIC serves elementary, middle and high school students, their parents, guidance counselors and others by providing informational and motivational workshops disseminating precollege and college preparatory program information.

Occupational Outlook Handbook - The government's premier publication on career guidance, provides essential information about prospective changes in the world of work and the qualifications that will be needed by tomorrow's workers.

Peterson's Education Center - This site brings together organized information about educational opportunities at all levels, and gives individuals the ability to search Peterson's databases.

SAT I - The SAT I is a Standarized test used as college admission criteria. Students.gov - A one-stop-shop from the U.S. Department of Education with information about financial aid, career development, educational planning and much more.

TestPrep.Com - The home page of Stanford Testing System, where students will find a free prep course for the SAT. Prep courses for the ACT and other standardized tests are currently under construction.

Think College Early - The Think College Early Web site has been designed to provide information on educational opportunities beyond high school for learners of all ages.

Wisconsin Educational Opportunity Programs (WEOP) - WEOP assists and encourages students to pursue higher education through a variety of state, federal and grant programs.
