College Costs

The cost of college is hard to estimate, as are the benefits that students reap over a lifetime. Financial aid offices try to estimate, on average, the cost of transportation, books, room and board, tuition/fees and miscellaneous expenses in a student costs. A student's actual costs for transportation and miscellaneous expenses may vary depending on individual lifestyle and needs. A list of actual tuition/fees for each University of Wisconsin institution is also available to enable students and parents to compare tuition/fee costs for nonresidents, residents and Minnesota residents.

Students who are not residents of Wisconsin for tuition purposes pay higher tuition than Wisconsin residents. However, there are new programs that offer reduced nonresident tuition for students who meet eligibility requirements.
