Transfer Admission Requirements

University of Wisconsin-Stout ~ Spring 2010

Minimum GPA and Credit Requirements:

A minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA is required for admission. Applicants with a minimum 2.2–2.5 cumulative GPA will be placed on a waiting list until updated/final transcripts are received or until the end of spring semester when the waiting list is reviewed.

A 2.75 minimum cumulative GPA is required for all majors in Education. Applicants with a minimum 2.5–2.75 cumulative GPA will be placed on a waiting list until updated/final transcripts are received or until the end of spring semester when the waiting list is reviewed.

Exception: UW Colleges transfers with an Associate degree and a minimum 2.0 GPA.

The GPA requirements listed above are the minimum for consideration and do not guarantee admission. In some cases, the GPA may be acceptable for admission to the campus without guaranteeing admission to the major.

Applicants should start preparing early for admission to the professional program. Students will advance to the major when all of the following have been completed:

Physics 281 University Physics I
Chemistry 135 College Chemistry I

An applicant who does not meet any of the above requirements for admission to the major but does meet the requirements for admission to UW-Stout may enroll without a major and qualify for the major in Manufacturing Engineering by meeting either requirement 2 or 3 by completing the appropriate courses at UW-Stout.

Contact the admissions office for more detailed information about course sequence, GPA, and other admission requirements.

Anticipated Application Deadlines/Priority Dates:

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
The campus will admit until full.

All other majors will admit until full with varied target numbers for each major.

BFA Art is not available for direct admission in the spring semester. An academically qualified applicant is admitted to the campus with an “undecided” major.

Registration Dates:

All admitted transfers will be notified of registration dates beginning late October 2009 and ongoing as students are accepted.

Early registration dates: November and December 2009

Additional registration dates: Before start of classes

Special Information:

Admission requirements and dates may be modified because of changing enrollment demands.

Special Note for UW System Transfer Applicants:

The UW System undergraduate transfer policy states that priority for admission will be given to UW Colleges transfers and other UW System transfers from campuses where a major is not available, subject to the limits of a campus's enrollment target. All UW System campuses have Guaranteed Transfer agreements with the UW Colleges. Students admitted under these agreements should follow the requirements of the agreement. The stipulations of these agreements are not included in this listing.
