This grade point average is the minimum for consideration and does not guarantee admission. In some cases, the grade point average may be acceptable for admission to the institution without guaranteeing admission to the major.

The following majors and the corresponding minimum grade point averages exceed the minimum for admission to the institution.

Education - Any transfer students applying for any of the following Education majors will be admitted as "pre" education in that major:

  • Applied Science - Science Education
  • Art Education
  • Early Childhood
  • Family and Consumer Sciences Education
  • Technology Education
  • Marketing Education
  • Marketing Education-Business Education Certification
  • Special Education
  • Vocational Rehabilitation-Special Education

Students should start preparing for admission to the professional program now. They will advance to the education major when they complete the following:

  • 40 semester credit hours
  • Completed the Application for Professional Program Admission
  • Achieved a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.75 and
  • Received a passing score on the Preprofessional Skills Test (PPST) in Reading, Mathematics and Writing.

Manufacturing Engineering - Transfer students will be admitted to the program if at least one of the following three requirements is met:

1. Both Test A and Test B below are satisfied:
Test A - Student must have an overall ACT score of 22 or higher OR student must be in the upper 40% of his/her high school graduating class.
Test B - Student must have an ACT MATH score of 22 or higher.

2. Student has transferred EITHER of the following calculus courses with a grade of B or better
(Note: a grade of B- is not sufficient):
Math-153 Calculus I OR

3. Student has transferred the following sequence of courses with an overall grade point average for these courses of 2.0 (on a 4.0 scale) or higher:

Math-154 Calculus II (or 355-157 Calculus and Analytic Geometry II)
Math-281 University Physics I
Math-135 College Chemistry I

If an applicant does not meet any of the above requirements for admission to the Manufacturing Engineering major, but does meet the requirements for admission to the university, they may enroll without a major and qualify for the Manufacturing Engineering major by meeting either requirement 2 or 3 by completing the appropriate courses at UW-Stout.

Please contact the admission office for more detailed information about course sequence, grade point average and other admission requirements.

Anticipated Application Deadline/Priority Dates:

Will admit until full.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.

Registration Dates:

All admitted transfers will be notified of registration dates beginning late February/early March 2008, and ongoing as students are accepted.

Early registration dates will be in mid/late April and/or early May 2009. Additional registration dates are in mid-July and prior to the start of Fall 2009 semester classes.

Institutions may be forced to modify requirements and dates listed above due to changing fiscal constraints.

Special Note for UW System Transfer Students

The UW System undergraduate transfer policy states that priority for admission will be given to UW College transfers and other UW System transfers from institutions where a major is not available, subject to the limits of an institution's enrollment target. All UW System institutions have Guaranteed Transfer agreements with the UW Colleges. Students admitted under these agreements should follow the requirements of the agreement. The stipulations of these agreements are not included in this listing.
