Transfer Admission Requirements

University of Wisconsin-Platteville ~ Spring 2010

Minimum GPA and Credit Requirements:

All applicants must be in good standing at the campus they are presently attending or previously attended.

A minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA is required for admission.

Although applicants may be admitted to the campus with a 2.0 cumulative GPA, a higher GPA may be necessary for admission to the School of Education or the College of Engineering, Mathematics and Science.

Requirements for some departments and majors may vary significantly from the minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA. All transfer students should consult with the department or program chair to clarify specific major/program requirements. The following list shows majors and corresponding minimum GPA requirements that exceed the minimum for admission to the campus.

Majors Requiring a Higher GPA:

Teacher Education—Education majors need a 2.65 cumulative GPA on a minimum of 40 credits (transfer students must earn a minimum of 15 credits at UW-Platteville) in order to be admitted to the teacher education program. To be endorsed for certification, students must have earned a minimum 2.75 cumulative GPA. Education students must have a minimum 2.75 cumulative GPA in professional education courses. Note: The GPA is calculated on UW-Platteville credits only. Credits earned during student teaching/interning cannot be used in calculating an overall GPA for endorsement purposes.

Engineering—Admission requires completion of the first semester of Calculus and Analytic Geometry with an earned grade of C or higher. Transfer applicants who have not completed this requirement may be admitted to the campus but will be placed in pre-engineering until Calculus and Analytic Geometry has been completed with a grade of C or higher.

Contact the admissions office for more detailed information about course sequence, GPA, and other admission requirements.

Anticipated Application Deadlines/Priority Dates:

Applications are accepted beginning June 1, 2009.
The application priority date is October 1, 2009.
The campus will admit until full.

Registration Dates:

Admitted transfer students who have paid the enrollment deposit will register with continuing students.

Admitted transfer students who pay the enrollment deposit after advance registration will receive a timetable and information regarding the registration process.

Special Information:

Admission requirements and dates may be modified because of changing enrollment demands.

Special Note for UW System Transfer Applicants:

The UW System undergraduate transfer policy states that priority for admission will be given to UW Colleges transfers and other UW System transfers from campuses where a major is not available, subject to the limits of a campus's enrollment target. All UW System campuses have Guaranteed Transfer agreements with the UW Colleges. Students admitted under these agreements should follow the requirements of the agreement. The stipulations of these agreements are not included in this listing.
