Transfer Admission Requirements

University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire~ Spring 2010

Minimum Grade Point Average and Credit Requirements:

An applicant must have a minimum of 30 semester credits with a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA. An applicant with 29 or fewer credits must also meet the freshman admission guidelines. (See current catalogue.)

A minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA is required for admission.

This GPA is the minimum for consideration and does not guarantee admission. In some cases, the GPA may be acceptable for admission to the campus without guaranteeing admission to the major.

The following list shows majors and corresponding minimum GPA requirements that exceed the minimum for admission to the campus.

Majors Requiring a Higher GPA:

2.50 Athletic Training
2.30 Business
2.50 Communications/Journalism
2.75 Elementary Education
2.75 Health Care Administration
2.75 Kinesiology—Human Performance
2.75 Kinesiology—Physical Education
2.50 Kinesiology—Sport Pedagogy
3.00 Nursing (A minimum 3.5 GPA is typically needed for admission to the major.)
2.75 Secondary Education
2.50 Social Work
2.75 Special Education

Contact the admissions office for more detailed information about course sequence, GPA, and other admission requirements.

Anticipated Application Deadlines/Priority Dates:

Applications are accepted beginning June 15, 2009.
The campus will admit until full.

Registration Dates:

Priority Registration: November 4, 2009–December 4, 2009

All admitted transfer students are required to attend an orientation program.

All admitted transfer students register with continuing students. The date is determined based on the number of earned credits.

Special Information:

Admission requirements and dates may be modified because of changing enrollment demands.

Special Note for UW System Transfer Applicants:

The UW System undergraduate transfer policy states that priority for admission will be given to UW Colleges transfers and other UW System transfers from campuses where a major is not available, subject to the limits of a campus's enrollment target. All UW System campuses have Guaranteed Transfer agreements with the UW Colleges. Students admitted under these agreements should follow the requirements of the agreement. The stipulations of these agreements are not included in this listing.
