The UW Colleges is the institution of access. New freshmen are likely to be admitted if they rank in the top 75% of their class. ACT/SAT scores must be received by the UW Colleges before a student will be allowed to register for classes. |

Some applicants may be placed on a postpone list, and an admission decision is made at a later date. Review of postponed students begins in early December and continues thereafter, dependent upon the number of applications received and space available in the freshman class. These applicants are typically contacted after the application priority of February 1 with an update on their status. They will be notified of a final admission decision no later than May 1, 2008. |

Admission is both competitive and selective. Some applicants will have their admission decision postponed. After all applications received by the February 1 deadline have been evaluated, all remaining postponed applications will be reviewed and a final decision will be made no later than March 15, 2008. Admission will be offered to as many postponed applicants as possible to fill the freshman class. Some postponed applicants not offered admission will have the option to place their names on the extended waiting list. If space remains after the May 1, 2008, enrollment deposit deadline, admission may be offered to selected individuals on the extended waiting list. |

Applications for fall 2008 are accepted beginning September 15, 2007. For most programs, applications are accepted until July 1 for fall term admission (December 1 for the spring term), or until enrollment capacity has been reached. Students interested in Architecture, Art or Nursing
should apply by January 1 for fall (November 1 for spring).
Please note that on-campus housing availability is limited, with contracts awarded based on the date an application for admission is received. |
For many programs, new freshmen are likely to be admitted if they rank in the top half of the class or have an ACT of at least 21 (SAT equivalent). However, these are only guidelines. Some programs, including Architecture, Engineering, and Nursing, are more selective and require stronger academic preparation. All potentially qualified students are encouraged to apply. Each application will receive a comprehensive review, taking all factors into consideration.

Applicants not admitted directly to the major in the College of Engineering and Applied Science (CEAS) will be considered for admission to pre-engineering, pre-computer science or the CEAS bridge program. Applicants not admissible directly to a particular program may also be considered for admission via our Academic Opportunity Center. Qualified applicants who cannot be accommodated because of capacity limitations will be offered the opportunity to enroll for a future term. |

| Students who apply by February 1, 2008, for fall 2008 are assured consideration for admission. After this date, consideration will be offered on a space-available basis. Admission to the elementary education major is limited. Students are strongly encouraged to apply early. |
Academic preparation, and specifically the strength of high school course work, is an important part of the admission decision. Students who rank in the top 40% of their class or have a minimum ACT score of 22 will typically be admitted. Enrollment in the elementary education program is limited and competitive. Applications will be accepted until the program is full. Early applications are strongly encouraged. ACT/SAT scores from the high school are accepted for admission. Preference is for an official ACT/SAT score report received directly from the testing agency. |

When 7th or 8th semester academic work is requested, the desire is to see an upward trend in academic performance to increase the chances of being admitted. |
